<u>Multiplicity of Race and Identities as a Mixed Race</u></div>

Race associated with biology is an identity category which
have been studied across many disciplines and yet race is now been dis-proven

been encountering this situation all my life,even at this present time I am
writing this article. Throughout my learning life as a student, I was always
identified as a Punjabi or an Indian. Being of a mixed heritage of a Eurasian
and an Indian, the community have always forced me to identify myself as a
Punjabi and an Indian. When told I am of mixed heritage, they argue within
themselves on how I do not show any traits of a Eurasian and often compared to
an actual Eurasian without any mixed heritages. At this point, the community
starts reacting in a racist manner. They compare the colour of your skin, the
size of your eyes , the texture and colour of your hair. The list goes on and
it never ends as they find every inch of insignificance in you to support their
narrow-minded opinions</div>

mixed races as our parents tries to reflect all the cultures in their blood.
However the results of the child’s name would end up being one of the most
awesome names ever heard or the names that are just simply really complicated.
For instance, my name is Dashania Elvira Gregory however the community have
interpreted my name to be an Indian name instead, just because of the first two
syllables in my name “Da”. In Indian names, there is always the usage of Da
such as Darshini or Darshana and therefore my mother decided to reflect the
Indian culture in my name. Sadly, my name which is <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>of a reflection of both Indian and English

statement to make to a mixed race person. I am very sure that there is not<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>even a single mixed race individual out there
have not experienced this statement. With all due respect, is the community that
asinine to find every mistake in mixed races? I have encountered this
exact statement saying “ Hey Dashania, you are only half<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Eurasian so that does not make you a
Eurasian, so you are an Indian,” As much as I would like to put the emoji of
the blank face, please understand that is the whole purpose on how we are mixed
race and the community does not have any right to tell us of our identity as I
am pretty sure we are well aware of that. Telling us that we are half of this

Subsequently,multiplicity of race, having different heritages that are being carried on for future generations have indeed been made an issue in the world. It really creates a miasmas of not-being-welcomed into the society as if (we) are like an urchin trying to walk down the street without being judged. Therefore, as a community the multiplicity of mixed heritages and race should always be perceived as something unique, extraordinary rather than making it seem so standard.</div>

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">The Domino Theory, a relatively well-known theory in the past, stated that if one country was to succumb to the influence of communism, other neighbouring countries will follow suit and take up the mantle as a communist nation. This theory was particularly popular and commonly used during the Cold War period by the American governmental and administrative bodies. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Venturing away from the political aspect of the Domino Theory, the Domino Effect is also prevalently known to the public to be that of the ripple effect of the knocking down of tiles, which are systematically and prudently arranged in various, uniquely singular patterns. This particular trend of the uniformed tumbling down of tiles has taken the world by storm since its discovery and almost the entirety of Earth’s population has seen this trend in action before; be it on screen or in person. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionaries, the Domino Effect is essentially the cumulative effect produced when one event initiates a succession of similar events. This effect can spawn either a chain of positive or negative outcomes, which may potentially benefit or hinder an individual. Our actions define our very being and our habits further solidify our personas. Without our characteristic traits and habits, we would be empty shells with no substance whatsoever. Be it good habits or bad habits, they play an integral role in our daily lives.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">When we associate habits and the Domino Effect together, how do they correlate? It is relatively simple actually; one action (regardless of positive or negative nature) will spark the execution of another action of the same essence. The cycle continues; triggering a chain of reactions and thus, stimulating a ripple effect. For example, let’s say you are determined to improve your academic grades and pass your examinations with flying colours. It is important to possess the drive and fervour for your goal in order to ensure that you actually see it to the end. You will most probably kickstart your initiative by reading and studying your textbook everyday for at least forty-five minutes. Gradually as time passes, you will find yourself increasing the time allocated for study and might even find yourself reading your textbook for an hour and a half each day! When you finally get a firm grasp of the momentum and pacing you are going at, you will find yourself naturally executing other extra work with flair: attempting past year papers, completing miscellaneous exercises, asking for tips from teachers and so much more. All of these will soon become habits and you’ll be seeing an A* in your school’s record card in no time at all if you maintain the momentum! This case is the perfect representation of how a simple first act can simulate a chain of other beneficial habits; highlighting the Domino Effect. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">On the other hand, the Domino Effect can also spark negative consequences; contrary to the previous example. For example, if you were to put off and procrastinate on an assignment, you will soon find yourself developing a complacent attitude and will shrug off all your pending work. When the deadlines for these assignments arrive, you will most probably enter a state of frenzy and rush to get all your incomplete work finished; indefinitely disregarding the quality of your output. Not only does the act of procrastination increase stress levels but it also promotes unhealthy living and develops a sense of laziness in us. Try to avoid from engaging in habits such as the aforementioned one as it is extremely difficult to escape from the spiral of ‘addiction’ caused by the Domino Effect. </span></div>

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">In a nutshell, this is all but just a simple exposure to the concept of the Domino Effect. You can search up information online to learn more about this fascinating theory. Please just bear in mind that one action always leads to another one. </span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">“Recovery is something that you have to work on every single day and it's something that it doesn't get a day off.” - Demi Lovato<br /><br />Demi Lovato; the girl you saw on Barney, the one who was always on Disney, the brilliant singer you look up to and a kickass feminist. You may think that she had a happy go lucky life; being a star since she was a kid and growing up to be an even bigger star. It wasn’t. Just like any other person, Demi battled every day mostly with herself. She pushed through all the negativity and confusion and became that kickass, strong and confident (Lovatics where you at) woman she is today.<br /><br />Ever since Demi was 8, she was a victim of bullying. Her friends were never nice to her and she got called fat. This got to her and she suffered from bulimia and depression. This was so severe to the point where she starved herself until she was only 88 pounds. When she was 11, Demi could not take it anymore; she was influenced by her friends and resorted to self harm in the from of cutting. As she said, she needed something immediate that would match her inside to her outside.<br /><br />Her habit of starving herself and her bulimia continued for a very long time. She used to perform at concerts on empty stomachs and she was losing her voice from throwing up too much. At this point, emotional problems came up. In one of her Camp Rock concerts, she hit one of her backup dancers. Realising her actions, she took the whole blame for that and felt terrible.<br /><br />At this point, her family decided it was best to seek for treatment. Demi left her tour and checked in to a treatment centre in Illinois. During her treatment, she came to know that she was bipolar. Other than her bipolar disorder, she was treated for her bulimia and cutting issues. In her treatment, she used a picture of her little sister for motivation. She wanted to be her little sister’s role model by getting better.<br /><br />After her 3 month treatment, Demi became more open about everything. She explained to everyone about what she was going through; from her troubles when she was a kid to the troubles she is facing now. In one of her interviews, she said, “Looking back it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I'd be up until 5:30 in the morning.” She mentioned how she is in control with her entire life now.<br /><br />Today, Demi is an inspiration to girls everywhere. Her album entitled, ‘Demi,’ really shows her journey - about how she is a warrior. In fact, the song, ‘Heart Attack,’ is based on her journey through her treatment. Her newest album, ‘Confident’ is the epitome of Woman Empowerment and Girl Power. The scars she had made while cutting herself, are now covered with a tattoo saying, ‘ Stay Strong’. She is proud of her body and doesn’t care what others think. She has even made a book called Staying Strong with a quote, explanation and goal for each day of the year, motivating her ‘lovatics’. From The X Factor to Glee, she’s done it all. Demi has accomplished a lot ever since her treatment, and will accomplish so much more. <br /><br />Demi, we are truly inspired by every step you make.</span><br />Namratahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04201658634498514127noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5798652693754059887.post-50096934384334810382016-11-16T21:00:00.002+08:002016-11-16T21:00:55.831+08:00Jamie Madrox-The multiple man<div class="p1">

<span class="s1">Jamie Madrox, also known as the Multiple Man, is a fictional character back in 1975, who first appeared in the Giant Size Fantastic four. <span class="s1">Now lets start!</span></div>
<div class="p3">
<span class="s1">During his youth, he was born<b>(still human by the way!) </b>into a family near the Los Alamos research facility in New Mexico.(<b>things happens!)</b> Don’t know why, the background radiation of the facility MAY have stimulated his mutation. When Madrox(<b>his surname!</b>)was born, the doctor’s slap caused him to multiply into two identical babies (<b>MAGIC!</b>). Which is why, Professor Charles Xavier, a friend of Madrox’s family, suggested them to raise baby Madrox in privacy in Kansas . Also, Dr.Daniel Madrox, Jamie’s dad, invented a suit, which absorbs kinetic anergy, to prevent Jamie from duplicating.</span></div>

<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
Legends about vampires have been around since the beginning of time.However,those ancient legends did not portray these blood sucking creatures as the fanged and pale-skinned walking dead that we know today.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span class="m_-2521759153941271417gmail-m_-8247941611279145389gmail-Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span>As a dismay to many, vampires from around the world had various features. For example,the Mesopotamian ‘Lamashtu’ was a creature with a head of a lion and a body of a donkey and the ‘Striges’ from Ancient Greece which were known as blood-thirsty birds or the Australian ‘Yara-ma-yha-who’. Vampires are also renown in Asia; in Philippines, they were known as ‘Manangal’ while in Malaysia they were known as ‘Pontianak’. Although,they seem very varied but they all have one thing in common which is consuming the blood of a living creature.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span class="m_-2521759153941271417gmail-m_-8247941611279145389gmail-Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span>Then what is the origin of the vampires that we know today? If you flip the pages of your history book, rewind your life back to the 18th century, set in eastern Europe, you will notice that it was the time when many deaths occurred due to numerous unknown diseases. Unfortunately,the reason for those deaths were not explained (at least scientifically).People started to recall ancient legends that has been passed down to them.The one legend that caught their attention and seemed like an evidence was the one about the blood sucking monsters.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span class="m_-2521759153941271417gmail-m_-8247941611279145389gmail-Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span>To confirm their theory, people started digging up buried corpses.What they found proved them right ! Longer hair and fingernails, bloated bellies and blood at the corner of the mouth proved the existence of what we call, <b>VAMPIRES </b>and that is where the reign of the modern vampires began. Sometime after that, people developed more theories about how vampires are created, traits of a vampire and ways to kill them. First of all, they believed that a corpse became a vampire when it was jumped over by an animal particularly a dog or a cat.The common traits of a vampire includes: immortality, being nocturnal and the ability to change form- into animals like bats and snakes. People also believed the ways to kill a vampire is by beheading or burning them.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span class="m_-2521759153941271417gmail-m_-8247941611279145389gmail-Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span>Unfortunately, when vampire hunting increased drastically, a law against digging up corpses was enforced. This is when people finally discovered the truths about vampires.After thorough research,some scientists discovered that what people thought were the evidence that vampires exist was actually due to decomposition of the corpse.Longer fingernails and hair is caused by a stage called decomposition .When the dead body decomposes, the skin dehydrates and cause the hair and fingernails to extend and also the bacteria in stomach produces gases that fill the belly which then forces out blood through the mouth.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span class="m_-2521759153941271417gmail-m_-8247941611279145389gmail-Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span>A few years later, vampire folklore had almost died off but these myths inspired many significant poets. Literature was the work of art that saved vampires from the brink of death. Famous works of literature inspired by vampires include,’The Vampyre' by William Polidori and Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula.’These pieces relit the fear of vampires in our hearts by inventing new traits of vampires such as weakness in sunlight,fear of crucifixes and the inability to see their own reflection.</div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">

We need to stay strong or this Halloween might bring a start to a whole new and mysterious death series…</div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on the 28th of July 1929 in Southampton, New York to a wealthy family of Irish, English and French ancestry. <span style="font-kerning: none;">Jackie’s parents got a divorce when she was just 10 years old. This was a difficult time for her as divorce was not very common then and most of her friends’ parents were still together. This however, caused her to ensure her own family and relationship with both her husbands (which she did not have at the same time, just FYI!) was always in a stable, healthy and opened state. Jackie Kennedy took care of her children with so much love and always put their feelings first, before hers. She was not just a mother to the nation, but most importantly a mother to her children. Jackie did not flinch at the thought of letting her children know just how much they mean to her. </span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(255, 110, 216); color: #ff6ed8;">“The children have been a wonderful gift to me, and I'm thankful to have once again seen our world through their eyes. <div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Jackie Kennedy was an all-around exceptional student. She went to and graduated from Miss Porter’s School, an all-girls boarding school in Connecticut. After, she continued her studies at Vassar College, New York where she studied literature, history, art and French. Jackie even spent her junior year of college studying in Paris, France to fully immerse herself in her French education. Once she got back from Paris, Jackie decided to transfer herself to The George Washington University to be close to her family. I guess to her, family was always put first. </span><br />
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">After graduating from college, Jackie went on to be a photographer. She would go around the city and try to capture the most raw photographs of everyday-people. She would then go up to them and ask questions on the issues they may or may not have encountered that day. Jackie Kennedy enjoyed getting to know about people and writing about them. She enjoyed telling stories. Real stories. </span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(255, 110, 216); color: #ff6ed8;">“Being a reporter seems a ticket out to the world”.</span><span style="font-kerning: none;"> It was as a photographer and interviewer that she met John F. Kennedy, who later went on to become her husband. Jackie married John F. Kennedy on the 12th of September 1953. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">During his Presidential Candidacy, Jackie Kennedy remained supportive of her husband. She accompanied him during his travels around the country and stood by his side until the day he was elected as the President of The United States. Taking on the responsibility of the First Lady must not have been easy, but she did it with so much grace and poise that she was able to conceal the never ending pressure exerted onto her and made it seem as though she had no weight piled up on her shoulders at all. Being the First Lady may not have been her choice of an occupation but she found passion in it. She found a way to love it, she found a way to be the Lady of the people. Despite her title, she continued to live life the way she did before. With passion, fire and purpose. </span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(255, 110, 216); color: #ff6ed8;">“I want to live my life, not record it”.</span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Jackie Kennedy was an icon. She had iconic hair, aura and style. Her style was not only represented by the classy clothes she put on but also by the way she walked, talked, responded and was with people. Her style did not just stop at her clothes, it latched on to who she was as a person. However, Jackie Kennedy did have the talent of expressing her words through her own personal style as well. Her ways of speaking and storytelling was unique, like no other. She had a way around words and one of her greatest gifts to us all were the stories she told. </span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(255, 110, 216); color: #ff6ed8;">“Once you can express yourself, you can tell the world what you want from it… All the changes in the world, for good or evil, were first brought by words”.</span><span style="font-kerning: none;"> </span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis will forever live in all of our hearts. She touched the lives of many people. Some who had the opportunity of knowing her personally, and some who only got to know her through the public eye. Either way, she changed some sort of perspective in all of us. Jackie Kennedy was an icon, a believer, a supporter, a mother and a lover and she is missed everyday. Though she might be gone, her ever inspiring words will never die. And neither will her passion. </span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; -webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(255, 110, 216); color: #ff6ed8;">“One man can make a difference and every man should try”. </span></div>

HORROR IN HIDE AND SEEK.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "apple braille"; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal; min-height: 14px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "apple braille"; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 12px;">
Remember how we would all use to gather around in a playground as little kids trying to find a spot to hide while the seeker finds you.Truth to be told,there is a lot more from where that came from.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "apple braille"; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 12px;">
<br />
Screams. Betrayal. Psychology. <wbr></wbr>Everything comes together as one relating to horror.Horror has a lot of dark secrets to it rather than just a mere story.This isn’t just about reddish blood; awful and hideous looking monsters and terrifying spirits. It is all about the tingling, ticklish and horrifying goosebumps that you sense and feel. Now that is horror !</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "apple braille"; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">
Hide and Seek begins.<br />
<br />
Based on the movie HIDE AND SEEK, a 2005 film, tells a story of a psychologist named David with a daughter called Emily who moved to Upstate New York after a parental suicide of the wife. Emily started having an imaginary ‘friend’ called “Charlie”. After ruining her friendship with her real and present friend, Amy, Emily decided to not have any new friends anymore. Things starts to get heated up when a beautiful and young lady named Elizabeth Young was invited to dinner with David. Emily acted hostile and seemed like she despised Elizabeth. Therefore, hoping to make peace with her,Elizabeth decides to play ‘Hide and Seek’ in the search of Emily’s imaginary friend “Charlie”. Things starts to turn into a mystery when Elizabeth opens a closet and someone pushes her off the second-story window; falling to her death.<br />
<br />
After this incident, David begins to realise that he possesses a split personality- himself and Charlie. Due to this,David was consumed by “Charlie” and therefore continuing his horrible deeds. Having a close friend,Katherine by his side; will she be able to stop “Charlie” from continuing with his awful actions and playing the frightening hide and seek with his daughter who dashes to hide?<br />
<br />
This movie reenacts one of the popular stories in the ‘Hide and Seek Horror History.’ It involved a person having a psychological split personality that ends up conquering the person’s mind, body and soul; creating danger and serious horror. Kids find ‘Hide and seek’ very interesting but would you want your kid to be aware of the dark side of this game ? The creepy part is that,it is not just in the game of hide and seek, it could be anywhere. Feeling scared? Well, there is definitely much more untold secrets about this. Beware !</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"> </span></div>
<span style="font-kerning: none;">I never believed in urban legends nor the stereotypical myths. Believing in what I can’t see is definitely nonsensical. Spirits, ghosts and demons don’t exist; they are just creations of us human beings to gain attention and media support. People say demonic possession or exorcism is the worst fear anyone can ever experience but for me my lonely life is my biggest fear. No one can ever understand the hardships and feelings of the child who was left on the streets 10 years ago. What can be worse ? Demons, a non-existence and undefined so called ‘matter.’</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Loneliness is what I receive everyday from the society. ‘The girl who lives alone’ is my pet-name in college. I am regarded as a person who lightens up the negative vibes. People scare themselves with non-existent supernatural things but I am terrified and disturbed by my own life. I have no one by my side; not even a friend. That night, I was blindly walking through the spiral road. The clouds were nearly black like never before. The trees were swaying in pain. The wind was blowing away the innocent and dried leaves. It felt as if the environment was trying to communicate with the inner soul of mine; it was trying to warn me and protect me. Just then, I saw a bright neon light moving towards me. The beam of light was approaching me with a velocity that is capable of terminating the acceleration. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>My body felt numb and I was unable to even take a step away. Out of the blue, a man like figure grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to his chest. I was able to sense his heart beat racing and pounding against time. As I looked up, he glanced at me with his hypnotising grey eyes while gripping my arm tightly. ‘What do you think you are doing? Are you crazy ?’, he lamented. I was terribly wounded deep down my heart until I was too tired to quarrel back. This guy full of mystery then told me his name, Chris and gave me an idea of staying over a nearby hut as it is about to rain. I decided to take this pleasant looking man’s advice. As I hastened my footsteps towards the strange looking mahogany door, I felt a gush of wind passing through my body and leaving me with cold shivers running through my back. I was terrified for the first time,yet, I opened it with my bare hands and bravely went inside. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>The curtains looked tattered and worn out with a faded reddish stain on it. The non-exclusive chandelier was swaying from side to side although there was no presence of wind in that house. The furniture and walls were equally lacklustre; the house was just devastating to look at. Just then Chris surprised me from the back and whispered, ‘This is where she, ‘Bloody Mary’, died’. Without a doubt I bursted out with laughter as these are all foolish folks. As I was laughing, I heard my laugh echoing continuously even after a minute with increasing volume. I started to worry and requested Chris to accompany me upstairs. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Without fail, he nodded and agreed to do so. Fear gripped me as we laid our feet up the spiral stairs. It made a shrieking sound that was rather irritating. As we were approaching the first and only room in the hut, we started to smell something very awful. It seemed like the smell of a rotten and partially decomposed corpse. I glanced at Chris and we somehow understood the meaning of our eye contact and decided to barge in the room. As we opened the door, the position of the chairs, tables and books left us speechless. The chairs, tables and books were at stationary without gravitational pull. Suddenly, the door behind us shut close and the lights started to get dimmer while blinking excessively due to the electromagnetic forces applied. The bed and cupboard started to rotate while everything else was already gravity-less. The chairs, tables and book begun to throw themselves at us in a domino effect. That was when I realised things beyond my eyes can witness do exist. She was there in that room; she was among us. Out of the blue, Chris kicked the door and pulled me with him. I was left speechless. We managed to escape the house of terror and at that point I realised that if it was not for Chris, I would have been dead. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Sometimes, not believing in things we can't witness can be harmful. Souls contain energy despite them being in a body or not. After that night, I was no longer the introverted girl everyone despise, instead the courage within me is now raging. I was happy for once; I was delighted to have Chris by my side. I am now living…</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">Known to be the epitome of eccentric couples in the comic book universe, the Joker and Harley Quinn pair have been receiving tremendous mixed reactions from the public throughout the years; especially since the recent release of the movie, <i>Suicide Squad</i>. The fundamental strings that tie their entire relationship together are based on twisted and delusional notions, which both parties allegedly find pleasure in. The mechanics of their romance revolves around constant psychological manipulation but at times, something which seems to be actual <i>love</i>?</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(64, 64, 64); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; color: #404040; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The Joker, as his name suggests, appreciates a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious joke and would stop at absolutely nothing just to have the final laugh. As a sociopath possessing an immense thirst for warped gratification, the Joker is known to be maniacal and always seems to have something sadistically quirky up his sleeves. As Batman’s eternal arch nemesis, he poses arduous challenges for the Gotham knight; more than often managing to slip away from Batman’s grasp of justice. His unpredictable villainous acts never cease to make both comic book readers and movie enthusiasts gape in pure astonishment - a definite testament to his infamous reputation. But hey, he enjoys what his job as a villain and having fun is his ultimate motive - <i>why so serious? </i></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Contrary to the common misconception that she is relentlessly mindless and dense, Harley Quinn is actually an extremely intelligent individual; possessing both a Masters and Doctorate in Medical Psychology. Dr. Harleen Quinzel or better known by her villain alias, Harley Quinn, was a psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum before falling into the the menacing clutches of the Clown Prince. Initially assigned to assist the Joker in ameliorating his mental health, she became increasingly obsessed and intrigued with the Joker’s behaviour; to the point where she finally goes insane and becomes his <i>personal puppet</i>. Drunk in love and enslaved by the Joker’s manipulative words, Harley is cajoled into releasing the him from the prison and eventually becomes his partner-in-crime. Deranged and deeply dependent on her <i>Puddin’</i>, Harley is in a constant pursuit of discovery; attempting to find her true identity. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(174, 25, 22); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; color: #ae1916; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><i>“Desire becomes surrender. Surrender becomes power.”</i></b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(174, 25, 22); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; color: #ae1916; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><i></i></b></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">As a couple, the Joker and Harley are - beyond a shadow of doubt - compatible in terms of their psychological reasonings and they complement each other’s insanity with natural flair. However, does true love exist behind their psychotic exterior? Do they actually love each other or is their judgement for the meaning of <i>love</i> clouded by their demented minds? Well, let’s dive right into the facts. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Yes, the Joker does genuinely love Harley but in his own twisted way. Without a doubt, he cares about her deeply but his acts of affection tend to contradict themselves at times; creating a rather oxymoronic effect. There are concrete evidences that the Joker has plotted to kill his <i>girlfriend</i> on more than one occasion; most notably, the <i>rocket incident</i> is a prime example of this subject. Relating to this issue, the Joker l<i>iterally </i>traps Harley in a real rocket and he explains (through a video recording) that certain peculiar feelings have been washing over him recently and he assumes that these sensations are that of love. He even openly confesses that it is rather abnormal for him to have romantic sentiments for another person who also shares feelings for him and his persuasive voice instantaneously puts her at ease.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">However, the glee she experiences is ephemeral as the Joker abruptly announces that he actually <b>hates</b> those feelings as they tend to distract him from his sadistic acts of villainy. Therefore, he concludes that the disappearance of Harley from his life will diminish his affection towards her; prompting him to kill her with his own accord. With this, the rocket sets off and launches Harley towards her impending doom; much to her utter shock. Fortunately, she manages to control the rocket’s functions and manoeuvres her way to safety. This event is truly an exemplification of how unhealthy their relationship is. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(174, 25, 22); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; color: #ae1916; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<b><i>"Puddin'."</i></b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(174, 25, 22); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; color: #ae1916; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">It is common and widespread knowledge that the Clown Prince and the Arkham Knight are constantly at each other’s necks; both respectively striving for goals that exist opposite of the world’s entire spectrum - an ultimate battle between good and evil. However, this interaction has reached the point where it can be considered as <b>obsession</b>. The Joker is persistently fixated on posing problematic challenges for his nemesis while Batman is always formulating plans in order to foil his evil schemes; this concept is the driving force of their conflict. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">During one occasion, Harley, who was unsatisfied by the lack of attention she was receiving from her beloved once, decided to deprive the Joker of his prized possession by planning to murder the Caped Crusader. She manages to kidnap Batman and as she is about to serve him to the ravenous piranhas, she decides to call the Joker to boast about her achievement to him. Contrary to the response Harley was expecting, the Joker becomes livid at this particular turn of events and instantaneously throws her out the window. This incident absolutely demonstrates how obsessed the Joker is towards Batman; further adding another layer of depth of their wacky relationship. The Joker would rather direct the entirety of his attention on his arch enemy than his girlfriend; that definitely says something. </span></div>
<div style="line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<div style="font-family: helvetica;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><b><i><span style="color: #ae1916; font-family: "helvetica";"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(174, 25, 22); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">“</span>I believe whatever doesn't kill you makes you... stranger."</span></i></b></span></div>
<div style="font-family: helvetica;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><i><br /></i></b></span></div>
</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The Joker’s notion on affection is different than that of normal, sane humans. On one occasion, the Joker decides to present Harley with a bouquet of roses; a token of his a compassion towards her. However, there is an ulterior motive behind his gesture of love and on the contrary to the roses’ beautiful appearance, what lies beneath them is a real shocker: dynamite. The Joker had prudently hid the explosives, which were moments away from going off, under the flowers with the motive of killing Harley; yet again. Thankfully, she manages escape harm’s way and simply shrugs the murder attempt off by proclaiming that her boyfriend has “commitment issues”. There are other countless examples of the Joker’s violent acts of abuse towards Harley but listing them all down would take an incredibly long time; therefore, I will not dwell too much into this aspect. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Despite all the cruel intents the Joker bears towards Harley, it is an understatement to claim that he does not care about Harley. In fact, he deeply cares about her but just refuses to acknowledge those sentiments. He is also shown to be rather protective over Harley and this is showcased during one event where he skins the owner of a Gotham strip bar, Monty, alive. Initially, Monty hires Harley to be a stripper but makes the mistake of looking at her voluptuous body for too long; prompting the Joker to resort to skinning him alive. The Joker’s actions highlight how possessive he is over her; treating Harley like his prized possession. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">One of the famous scenes in<i> Suicide Squad</i> would be that of Harley jumping into the pool of chemicals in order to gain the Joker’s approval and acknowledgement. However, this particular scene does not stay true to the source material as the comics depicted this scene to be that of the Joker pushing Harley in. Harley did not choose to be bleached and dunked into acid; it was the Joker. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">These are only a few of the sample facts to explain their relationship; to fully unravel the dynamics of the Joker-Harley Quinn pair would take an extremely long time - considering the scope and depth of their relationship. The complexity of their relationship cannot be summed up in a mere article but I hope that this piece of writing may have introduced new perspectives to their story. In my opinion, the two of them complement each other perfectly and most certainly possess a unique affinity to cater to each other’s needs. However, I do not entirely support their relationship as I generally regard it to be unhealthy and detrimental. From my own perspective, I believe that Harley deserves to be treated better and not labelled as a slave of the Joker. It pains me whenever I observe the way he acts towards her and how she still blindly devotes herself whole-heartedly to him; she is not his personal toy. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">In particular, I am overjoyed with her progress and character development as she is seen to be less dependent on the Joker in recent comic releases. Harley has finally accepted and embraced the fact that Joker is a harmful entity in her life. Following his constant acts of abuse, she has since fostered a close connection with fellow villain, Poison Ivy. The two female villains have been hinted to have romantic feelings for each another and it is completely understandable why. Poison Ivy was the one who helped Harley after incidents when the Joker would plot to kill her and the two of them would even occasionally commit crimes together. Not only does Poison Ivy loyally stand up for Harley but she is also her pillar of support; forever present to help her friend. I believe that this is the type of relationship Harley truly deserves: a one where there is a mutual platform of understanding, respect and love - not one where is oppressed and enslaved by her partner’s manipulative actions or words. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">In my opinion, the existence of the Joker in Harley’s life poses adverse effects on herself; physically, mentally and psychological. She needs to escape from his slavery and embark on a journey to find her true self once again without any negative influences from the clown. However, this is all purely my opinion and everyone is entitled to have their own viewpoints, so what’s yours? </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">

An Angels Halo for Halloween? <br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
Being under the impression of Halloween, the majority of us
here today in this era have associated
this day with trick or treating, pumpkins as lanterns and fulfilling your dream of playing your favourite character
,villain, or looking downright dead. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, most of things that we have interpreted about
Halloween are new traditions that the society have created over the years. Let
me bring you to an adventure to go back much further crossing several seas to a
country also known as the Emerald Isle. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In Ireland, the early Irish people were Celtic tribes who
practised paganism an early religion introduced roughly between 500 BCE and 500
CE. The Irish Celts celebrates two obligatory events knows as the Samhain
meaning the ‘ Summer’s End ‘, where it is a celebration marking the end of the
harvesting season and also the beginning of winter. Samhain which is also known
as the Feast of The Dead is also celebrated by non- pagans which is known by
the name “Halloween.” Many Pagans celebrate Samhain from sundown on October 31
through November 1. According to the
Celtic tribes it is said that dividing the line between the living and the
dead became dangerous for the living. Therefore,
the Celts wore mask and costumes to confuse the evil spirits and making them think they were one of them. The
early tradition of dressing in costumes were “ mumming and guising “ in which
people disguise themselves and go door-to-door. Early costumes were woven out
of straw and sometimes people wore
costumes to perform in play or skits. According to Nicholas Rogers, a history
professor at York University in Toronto and the author of Halloween: From Pagan
Ritual to Party Night said that there is no hard evidence that Samhain was
specifically devoted to the dead or ancestor worship.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
With the growth and spread of Christianity as the dominant
religion throughout Europe, Samhain took on Christian names. All Saints Day or
All Hallows on November 1 honoured
Christian saints and martyrs. All Souls Day on November 2 was a day of
remembrance for all of the souls of the dead. As the Christian debate goes on,
celebrating Halloween is a preference that is not always viewed as
participating in an evil holiday as the ingenious customs of honouring the dead
mixed with Roman Catholicism gave birth to the “Day of The Dead”. <o:p></o:p></div>

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vQwT7U4Gy3U/WATnEbccYrI/AAAAAAAAAKc/7zWWpDB5GXQ2z4TrrW49rYiPLEkl5Y8NQCLcB/s1600/tumblr_n2789xqnKk1tuz95vo4_500.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vQwT7U4Gy3U/WATnEbccYrI/AAAAAAAAAKc/7zWWpDB5GXQ2z4TrrW49rYiPLEkl5Y8NQCLcB/s400/tumblr_n2789xqnKk1tuz95vo4_500.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><i>"I mean come on, we hunt monsters. What the hell? I mean, normal people,
they see a monster and they run, but not us. No, no, no we-we search out
things that want to kill us, yeah, huh, or eat us. You know who does
that? Crazy people."</i></span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> On the 13th of September 2005, the first episode of Supernatural was aired. 11 years and 1 month later, the first episode of Supernatural’s 12th season premiered. These facts alone show how successful Supernatural has become. For years, Supernatural’s fandom has been patiently following the two brothers, Sam and Dean, along in their black 1967 Chevrolet Impala. The fanbase has only grown stronger and the fans can easily differentiate two monsters and name them in a snap. From Leviathans to Wendigos, us ‘Superfreaks’ as some may say. may be ready for our very own hunt.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> If you were lost in all that talk, the show cent<span style="font-family: inherit;">ers</span> around two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, and their jobs as hunters. These are no regular hunters; these hunters hunt anything and everything,<span style="font-family: inherit;"> well, </span> Supernatural. Demons, ghosts, monsters, and even Angels are the hunters’ business. Sam and Dean were raised learning the ways of hunting from their dad. Their family was forced into the business due to an unfortunate event with a de<span style="font-family: inherit;">mon</span>. Ever since that day, their lives have been all about saving people, hunting things, the family business. <br /><br /> The show explores all sides of horror. The gory graphic type, and the eerie chilling type. This is not a show for those easily scared and is definitely not the right show for logic-minded people. To enjoy this show, imagination is vital and having an open mind as well. I have been watching Supernatural ever since I was 7 and I have always enjoyed it, even though I didn’t understand any of the jokes when I was younger.<br /><br /> Through thick and thin, Sam and Dean have always stuck by each other’s sides. They would sacrifice their lives for each other and they have before. Dean being the older brother would sometimes be overprotective for Sam, but throughout the show, Dean learns that Sam isn't a little boy anymore and isn’t just ‘Sammy’. With a busy and usually absent father, all the both of them had growing up were themselves. The brotherhood they have built with each other is as strong and powerful as it can ever be. <br /><br /> The boys have dealt with great loss in their lives. Family, friends and allies. Things that they can never forgive themselves for flood their mind. Through it all, they push through and remember. They may move on, but they always remember who helped them become the men they are today. These boys play a huge role in my life. They both inspire me to go out and help people and to be the best version of myself I can be. They teach me how the world may never be at your favour, and how to push through it in the end, even if nothing seems worth it. If you are looking for a new show to binge on, Supernatural is the one, especially at this time of year. Carry on my wayward sons!</span></span><br />

I’m sure you’ve already gotten used to the whole ‘go to school in the morning and come back in the evening’ schedule. As frustrating as it is, you just have to bare with it because the significance of education is beyond explanation. Nevertheless, there are some days where the work piles up on you, the pressure gets to you and you just feel so overwhelmed by everything. Everybody has those days, even the people who seem like they have their whole life together can crumble at some point. I’m here today to restore your hope and to help you get through those days.<br />
<br />
If you’re a person who tends to get anxious quite easily, just know that you’re not alone. Try reaching out to a friend, a parent or even a teacher if you feel like you’re stuck in a bubble you just can’t seem to pop. I know this is the most cliché thing to say, but everything is going to turn out alright, even if you feel like the whole world just shattered into pieces over you. Instead of worrying about the things you have to do, start doing them one by one and just check them off that list. Remember, deadlines aren’t everything. If you really have to get an extension, go ahead. You should always remember to not push your limits too far. Pushing them a little is good, but you must always remember to save some time for yourself. <br />
<br />
You should always leave a part of the day unoccupied. No matter what day it is, you should always have some time to reflect and relax. It helps if you have a hobby. For me, that would be my penny board. I always make sure that I have some time to penny board during the day because not only does it help me clear my mind, but it makes me happy and energises me. It’s that rush I get in my body because it’s something I love. For you it could be swimming or even writing, but whatever that is, do it. If you still haven’t found what you love doing yet, go experiment! The main point of this is to just have some downtime by yourself to think about the good things and to get back on track; even sitting outside with some fresh air could boost your mood so much!<br />
<br />
Now let’s go back to the time when you’re actually really stressed and overwhelmed. At that moment of time, you have to drop everything. Not literally, but you need to put aside whatever you are doing and take a break. When I’m stressed, I like to put on a mask because that just relaxes me so much. Go pamper yourself! If that involves chocolate and/or ice-cream, go get it! My ultimate comfort food is just a plain avocado with a sprinkle of salt. No matter how down in the dumps I may be, avocados always find a way to cheer me up!<br />
<br />
Whatever it is, the most important thing is to have hope and do what makes YOU feel happy. Remember that there is always a way! Don’t give up on yourself, because I haven’t yet and so shouldn't you. No matter what the setbacks, go on and show them, prove to them that you can do it and that you can do anything!<br />

Fearless, strong, brave, educated, inspiring and significant are just a few of the many positive words we can use to describe this issue’s Woman of The Month. She’s our fighter, our activist, our warrior, who has fought and is continuing to fight for the rights of all children, women and people in the world. No matter what age, gender or religion. She is this generation’s peacemaker and we at <span style="color: #ff95d0;">Sparks</span> intend on acknowledging our brave warrior.</div>

<div style="font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="color: #232323;">Malala Yousafzai was born on the 12 of July 1997, making her only 19 years old, to Ziauddin Yousafzai and his wife Toorpekai Yousafzai. She grew up with her two younger brothers in the Swat District of Pakistan’s northwestern<span style="background-color: white;"> </span></span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="line-height: normal;">Khyber Pakhtunkhwa</span> </span><span style="color: #232323;">under the Sunni Muslim religion of Pashtun ethnicity. Malala has always taken pride of both her religion and nationality, carrying the flag of her homeland wherever she goes and despite the nasty remarks people have to say about her home and her people. </span><span style="color: #6f3a47;">“<i>I want people to remember that Pakistan is my country. It is like my mother, and I love it dearly. Even if its people hate me, I will still love it.” </i></span><span style="color: #232323;">Her parents had decided to give her the name ‘Malala’ after Malalai of Maiwand who was a famous Pushtun poet and warrior woman from southern Afghanistan. Her well known name brings the meaning ‘grief-stricken’ which suits the struggles and challenges faced by our own warrior. </span></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
Malala Yousafzai developed a thirst for knowledge and education at a very young age. Malala cherished the world of education with all her heart. She was taught by her father and had dreamed on becoming a doctor. However, after being encouraged by her father, Malala set her eyes for bigger dreams: to become a politician. Malala was referred to, by her father, as someone unique and special. Therefore, she was allowed to stay up late nights to discuss politics with her parents while her two other brothers were sent to bed. <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“Let us make our future now, and let us make our dreams <span class="aBn" data-term="goog_1164736189" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(204, 204, 204); border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; position: relative; top: -2px; z-index: 0;" tabindex="0"><span class="aQJ" style="position: relative; top: 2px; z-index: -1;">tomorrow's</span></span> reality.”</i> </span></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
Being only 11 years old, Malala Yousafzai started speaking out about educational rights in the September of 2008. She was eager and determined to fight for her right to go to school for a proper education. She was not only fighting for herself, but for all the children out there who are kept away from the world of education. Her strong belief is the key element that has made her able to stand up to the Taliban. During her speech, Malala asked a question that brought not only controversy but also a sense of awareness to the topic of educational rights. She had asked her audience, <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>"How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?”</i></span></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
At the age of 11, most of us would be engulfed in the issues and tabloids of pop-culture as well as the latest trends to follow up on. However, to Malala, this was the age she had first got serious in her participation towards activism. Malala Yousafzai was only 11 years old when she wrote her first BBC diary entry. <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.”</i></span> She started off writing anonymously, however, her identity was revealed and she became a popular teenage activist. This caused her to attend more events to give speeches on the issues she was fighting for. She became the voice of many young girls and boys out there who were unable to speak up for their own rights as humans and citizens of this world. <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“I speak not for myself but for those without voice... those who have fought for their rights... their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.”</i></span></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
Being the voice who speaks against those in charge and those who enforce the rules comes with it’s fair share of danger and risk. On the 9th of October 2012, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. Our strong warrior managed to survive and recover from the attempted assassination. This tragic turn of events caused Malala to gain an even bigger support base and her incident as well as recovery received worldwide media coverage and produced an outpouring mix of sympathy and anger. <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“I say I am stronger than fear.”</i></span> None of this caused Malala to give up or even slow down on her equal rights movement. She began attending even more events to speak up about these issues and even started up the ‘Malala Fund.’ <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“All I want is an education, and I am afraid of no one.”</i></span></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #6f3a47; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
Our warrior, Malala Yousafzai, has been awarded with multiple awards and prizes for her brave acts and commitment to the uprising of everyone’s rights for a proper source of education. The Clinton Foundation presented her with the Clinton Global Citizen Award in 2013 while the European Parliament honoured her with the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in the same year. She was also awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize along with Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education. </div>
<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; min-height: 16px;">

<div style="color: #232323; font-family: 'helvetica neue'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;">
Malala Yousafzai, our hero, our activist, our inspiration, our peacemaker, our warrior. <span style="color: #6f3a47;"><i>“Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.”</i></span> </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Homework. Assignments. Responsibilities. Social life. Family time. Countless of things to do yet so little time to spare. Most students tend to struggle to get back on the right track whenever a new academic year kicks off and suffer from a chronic disease, which is commonly known as the <i>Procrastination Syndrome</i>. By definition, procrastination refers to the action of delaying or postponing something; therefore, solidifying the idiom: procrastination is the thief of time. After a few weeks or months of blissful and stress-free holidays, students more than often find themselves putting off important assignments to either indulge in some alone time or spend quality time with their beloved ones. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b>“I can do it later. I still have more time.”</b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The above sentence can be considered the universal motto of the <i>International Procrastination Organisation</i>. By delaying coursework and other tasks, the time available to complete these duties will gradually shorten as the days pass by. Before students can even realise it, they are left with only a day to finish a two thousand words-long essay as the result of constant procrastination. Being a victim of the procrastination plague as well, I am not guilt-free when I say that I too have had my fair share of sleepless nights; in an attempt to avoid receiving an earful from my school teachers the next day. Burning the midnight oil is a common practice amongst procrastinators alike and this particular action will dramatically affect an individual’s cognitive, physical and emotional state; due to the lack of proper sleep. As you are reading this, you have to admit that you too have at least procrastinated once in your life. After all, we are mere human and ultimately, we do get tired and lazy to finish our work at times; unable to focus on the task at hand. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">However, now, at the beginning of the school year, students must once again sharpen their minds and make full use of their time in their educational institutions. In order to aid students to snap out of their idle summer holiday mentality, here are a few ways to sharpen your focusing abilities. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b>Multi-task Less</b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Multi-tasking refers to the act of the handling of more than one task at the same time by a single person. It is a common misconception that multi-tasking promotes productivity but this is far from true. Most people tend to have the mindset that multi-tasking catalyses and speeds up the work process but it actually disrupts concentration. Finish tasks one by one before moving on to complete an other assignments.</span></div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">S - Steadfastness & Selflessness</span></b></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 17px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">F- Frugality: the quality of being prudent in saving.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Our community is poised at the brink
of a severe destruction due to the acquisitive act of having money,
power and status. Humans have risk consigning the future due to the
frailty of being egocentric and ensconced in our own comfort zones not
knowing the lest of this situation. In general, the surplus resources we
have or the opportunities or authority that are given to us should not
be taken for granted. Therefore as a whole, frugality should be a virtue
to be uphold.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 17px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">O – Optimism : hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Optimism, a conscious focus on
developing magnificent and splendid things in life. Well, as individuals
who encounter daily challenges in life which can be as simple as
meeting other individuals, we are inclined to find certain imperfections
about ourselves. For instance, discolouration, a certain deficiency or
just any adequacy physically and mentally. This could bring down a
person’s self esteem. Therefore, we should be more buoyant by being
grateful for what we already possess and to definitely hope for the
better. Take for example, although we have failed miserably in our major
examination, it is never too late to wake up and strive for the
betterment in life. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">C- Congenial: pleasing in nature or character.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">We all have a certain vision or goal
in life. It does not have to be same with all the other individuals. We
don’t specifically need to have great status or proficiency to be a
congenial individual; it comes naturally. All of us are of high
calibers, it is just the matter of us being constrained in that one
shell. The whole community would be able to witness and lead a peaceful
world which is free of violence, poverty and evil only if all of us view
the world in the same way. It is always said that a person’s behaviour
depends on how well you treat one another. If we start treating one
another maturely and considerately, there would be a better chance of us
reducing the endless problems in our world.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 17px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">U- Unity</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Unity, a word that have been always
misconceived in our community. It is often seen in articles of
newspapers and in digital realms such as the television or on our smart
phones. We are all in this together and we are all “one”. We are like
the poker cards, where one card that falls can provoke the rest of the
cards to collapse. We should be working hand-in-hand in the search of
finding a way to enhance communication and collaboration. If there is
teamwork, nothing is impossible. In this case, if there is unity and
collaboration, we can achieve wonders. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 17px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">S- Steadfastness and Selflessness</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">We all have aspirations to be
successful individuals. However as goals and achievements start drifting
off, we tend to divert our path every now and then. In that case, these
two words “ Steadfastness and Selflessness” can aid us to attain our
goals in the face of hardships. In our world, where our problems are as
diverse as we are, selflessness is not requisite to solve every of our
problems; therefore steadfastness comes into the picture. We should not </span><span style="font-family: "helvetica"; line-height: normal;"><b>only</b></span><span style="font-kerning: none;"> be able to show our generosity but we should also be the ones that are reliable.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: 'Helvetica Light'; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Subsequently, let us all be focus and affirmative in achieving F.O.C.U.S</span></div>

<div style="line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-kerning: none;">FOCUS simply defines what we are supposed to do in school. Focusing is the key element in school and this is what most students’ don't possess. A person should never lose their focus in anything they are doing. <div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Dear Dashania Elvira Gregory,</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">How’s life? Life is great now right? No homework, no stress, no school. I hope that time has been as kind as a doe to you and that you are doing well. I can’t really predict what your life is like now considering the fact that likely all things you may be facing now are not the things you are going through with your own parents or your high school friends. So basically that’s the whole reason you are writing this letter to yourself. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Well, to give you a word of advise although I am like 10 years younger than you but hey you are still me right? Know that the person who cares about you a great deal is your family and is concerned for your well being, never ever forget about the sacrifices and memories that you and your family have gone through all those times. Accept that you may need to trust their advices and judgments over you, and listen attentively, be open minded to what he or she has to say.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Secondly, self acceptance, always allow yourself to be whoever you want to be, love yourself. Have hopes and dreams,adventure. I recommend experimenting with envisioning your <i>future</i> life. Besides that, don’t get so caught up with relationships that you know that you can’t get along with and end up disappointing and hurting yourself. So pick the right person that you are comfortable with and have the same, equal mindset, dreams, an occupation that is stable and of course God fearing. I also hope that you have travelled around the world, meeting new people unlike what I am now, literally not travelling anywhere.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">I would be very grateful and proud of you if you could do me a favor, “PLEASE GET SOMETHING DONE WITH YOUR ENTIRE BODY!” Get your hair done, your face treated, and of course please get waxed… I want you to not stop or give up on your teaching career, be a great teacher for your students. Promise me you would be a good, loving, sincere, bubbly, dedicated teacher just like Miss Chong, your ex Science secondary teacher. Remember the days when she used to run around the class chasing you for not drinking your water or not knowing the Science questions that she asked you, she was indeed a wonderful teacher. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">I also hope that you really get a whole set of new clothings, your younger me loves vintage clothing . Vintage clothing appropriate and fashionable. Furthermore, get yourself some Jazz albums like Frank Sinatra and all. Make It your hobby, collecting Jazz albums. Hey, I know you are like only 25 but when you get married please have a good wedding. A wedding that you would always remember, don’t spend too much though. I would suggest going for a wedding that is simple and classic again ahhahaha. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Oh wait and also when you have kids, please please please!!!, get your kids to do some performing arts or something. Send them to dance classes, piano classes or whatever that interests them, let them be creative with their minds. Teach them to keep journals that would help them in their English, read books and do well in their studies to accomplish in their lives, learn the Mandarin language. Let them have fun too… Go out for parties ( DON’T DRINK TILL THEY ARE 18 and ABOVE) and not forgetting their creator, go to church and pray. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">I hope that you would remember the experiences in your life that you wanted to learn from and that to the letter to remember all the times you lost your things (especially loosing your Macbook),not taking your piano lessons ( the biggest regret) and all the other good and nonsensical things you did in life. Whatever you do, please do not be fat and do not be vegan, just keep a balanced diet, eat what you like but don’t be a glutton. Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone although our friendship seizes from now on, don’t want you regretting about all the hardships and embarrassments in your life with me. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">From the younger me.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; min-height: 12px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Dear 25 year old Namu,<br />
<br />
Hi Namu! I hope people still call you that. At this point, I’m not sure what you may be like and I have no idea what you are doing at the moment but there sure are things I hope you’ve done. As much as I want you to live a proper life, I want you to be the happiest woman you can be and you do what you can to make all your dreams come true.<br />
<br />
1. Go Skydiving Again and Get Your License <br />
<br />
Remember how amazing you felt when you landed at Byron Bay and how much you wanted to do it again. Well I hope you finally got your license! I still dream of the day I can jump out of a plane on my own with my pink parachute so I hope you have fulfilled that dream!<br />
<br />
2. Finally go skiing and snowboarding<br />
<br />
You know how much you wanted this so I hope you’ve done it a few times already. Remember that little girl 10 years ago who’s never seen snow, I hope her dreams have come true. I hope she had finally built her long awaited snowman and conquered a ski and snowboard slope.<br />
<br />
3. Get a Scuba Diving License<br />
<br />
You’re fascinated by what’s under and over land so I hope you went for it and got a scuba diving license! I hope you’ve dived in Maldives as well. I hope you expanded your horizons to more than what you see and took every chance you got.<br />
<br />
4. Jump of a cliff<br />
<br />
Okay this applies to base jumping, bungee jumping AND jumping of a cliff into water. You’ve been skydiving so I bet base jumping would be easy for you. Bungee jumping would be absolutely no problem for you so I hope you’ve done it a few times. Really if you still haven’t jumped of a cliff into water, get someone to push you in. Really, do it.<br />
<br />
5. Met Alfie Deyes and Zoë Sugg<br />
<br />
I hope and pray that you actually met them before your 16th birthday. 1. Because you would have been the happiest girl on this planet and cried a river of happy tears and 2. If you didn’t then you would have lost the bet. Really, I hope you met them and make this little girl's dreams come true. <br />
<br />
Thanks for reading future me, if you even remembered that this was here. I hope you’re doing well and if you’re not, go for it and just be a pilot already. That's what you want to do and you have the chance to do what you love, travel. You’re great and if you’re ever feeling down, just remember me. Remember that little girl who just wanted to have fun and forget about real life.<br />
<br />
Love,<br />
Namu. <br />

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Ten years ago, </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">You were struggling with school, </span></div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To be brutally honest, I don’t know how I’m going to make it out alive from high school and university but I guess if you’re reading this letter, everything went fine; I presume? It terrifies me and sends cold chills down my spine every single time I think about the future. What lies ahead of me is a blank sheet of paper and anything could occur in a mere span of ten years. I could be married, bankrupt, jobless or even potentially homeless! The future is bottomless void of endless possibilities and even one decision could change a person’s life for eternity. Without a shadow of doubt, the future is a scary thing but I realise that everyone has to face life’s harsh ordeals in order to move forward. </span></div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Dear future me, <br />
<br />
How are you? How were your IGCSE results? Have you finally chose which course to take: IBDP or A-Levels? Do you still have a double chin? Do you have puffier rice cakes under your eyes? Do you still make monkey faces? Do you still make animal sounds? Sorry for the overload of question but this was you in the past. By the time the future me will be reading this, you would be around 25 years old. By that time, I’m guessing you have already graduated from university, furthering your studies overseas or could be possibly working. You might still be in touch with some of your friends from secondary school because come on, who can forget them? Maybe you would not be meeting up with each other as often compared to before because you used to literally see each other from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon. The memories living in a boarding school must have been certainly remarkable and significant; watching each other nurture from ages of 12/13 to 16/17. After secondary school, I suppose you were all off to your own seperate ways. <br />
<br />
To the future 25 year old me, I guess you would have achieved one of your dreams, to travel almost half of the world. That’s one thing off my bucket list (haha). Oh yes, have you tried out bungee jumping which you have been longing to try out? Do you still play ball sports: basketball, netball? I suppose you own a condominium now, possibly in the States and a pet dog. You must own a Golden Retriever puppy or a pug and must have named your puppy, Paddy. Paddy was your deceased dog in the past in case you do not remember. 25 year old Sharel, you have to make sure mum, dad, grandpops, grandma are still healthy and your sister is still in touch with you. You have to make sure you have a body with a good shape or at least a fit and not an overweight body. You have to work out daily or just go for a casual stroll after work. Treat yourself to a good meal monthly.<br />
<br />
I suppose you would be indulging myself with good food. You should have gotten rid of your bad habits by now: eating junk food, midnight snack munching and stop eating instant food. Future me, do you eat yogurt and fruits daily? You should go grocery shopping every week shopping for your favourite fruits: peaches, strawberries, soursop and many other of your favourite fruits. At 25 years old, I do not expect you to be married just yet but at least start dating, will you?<br />
<br />
Right now, the 15 year old me in 2016 has no idea what she wants to do in the future. I have had ambitions of becoming a pedeatrician, forensic scientist, lawyer and etc. A few days ago, I obtained my Cambridge Checkpoints Examination results. The entirety of my class, the Sophomore 2, were so nervous and drunk with anxiety. While we were waiting for our results, our palms got sweaty and perspire internally. What if it was bad? What would happen if our principal announced it? After our vice principal announced the top achievers for each subject, he announced the top achievers overall. After revealing the second top achiever, my name was announced and I was shocked but didn’t show it externally. I was pretty sure I didn’t do well in some subjects or I made careless mistakes. After I received my results, I was overjoyed yet it all felt preposterous at the same time. My senior, Alicia was elated and embraced me in a hug with her stubby arms. These were good memories which I guess you must cherish even until now:)<br />
<br />
That is all from the 15 year old you. <br />
<br />
Lots of Love, <br />
<i><span style="font-size: large;">15 year old Sharel:)</span></i><br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3tXFDyUs-S4/V1F4_drjemI/AAAAAAAABXY/7vQvylgN31kfEdlKCamYQ-kKGGuugBNPQCLcB/s1600/tumblr_o85fw1FgUl1uemgjoo1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3tXFDyUs-S4/V1F4_drjemI/AAAAAAAABXY/7vQvylgN31kfEdlKCamYQ-kKGGuugBNPQCLcB/s320/tumblr_o85fw1FgUl1uemgjoo1_1280.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Starting this post by quoting Gloria Steinem, "Whoever has power takes over the noun - and the norm - while the less powerful gets an adjective". </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is time for us to realize that in this generation, women are progressively imprisoned in a world of negative reflections by totally internalizing in the chauvinist context. The best example is given : ladies are rarely stereotyped to be effective leaders, in the contrary men have always been the choice <i>numero uno</i>. Practically, we have lived in an era of us being stereotyped as - the worst drivers on the road / the least sportif / not the bread-winner for the family / the best at staying-at-home / and the list goes on and on. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This post is not a feminist post, rather, it's a publication to second Sheryl Sandberg's cause to dedicate a message to all women out there and <b>in here</b> : to lean in. We are not just beauty items of which if expires no longer are we valuable to even be looked at. We are not totally dependent of what our opposite genders are to cater for us. We are not the weaker gender who settles for the opposite gender and stop reaching for the achievement that we once believed we could have achieved. We should stop contributing to strengthen this custom but we should start contributing to a wondrous change, hoping to bolster women's capability in a context larger than what we were stereotyped to be!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Men are not patterned to be stronger than women, they are indeed stronger than women in a lot of aspects. But this point needs to be taken too in the reverse order. I am not urging the fact that women are equal to men, nor women are better than men. Both genders have their very own ways to commit and contribute to the society in a very individualistic motive. Men can never be the same as women and women can never be as great as men (vice versa!). It is not the men whom we should be against but it is our own whom we should better. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you will be a teacher, be the greatest teacher you'll ever be to your kids.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you will be a mother, be the greatest mother you'll ever be to your children. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you will study in computer science, be the greatest student you can ever challenge yourself to be.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you will do modelling, be the greatest and the most successful model you can ever be without the needs to be <i>adjectivized</i> by others. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you will be a wife, be the best wife your husband will never expect to own. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Always seek to better yourselves in many ways and at all times. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Let not the past stereotypes define us, work in the present to redefine our values in the future.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Whoever has power takes over the noun..." - let us take over and charge of this great noun given to us women, "and the norm" - let us decide what our norms are supposed to be as the great women, "while the less powerful gets an adjective" - never will us settle for an adjective!</div>

<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><i><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><br /></span></i></span></div>
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><i><span style="font-size: xx-small;">“The emotional, sexual and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says: it’s a girl.”</span></i></span></div>

<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Woman: a noun used to describe an adult human female, a word acting as an epitome of elegance and a title given to the seemingly ‘inferior’ gender of human society. Stereotype: a word used to describe a conventionalised, overused theme; often proving to be overly cliché. Throughout the centuries, gender discrimination has been an increasingly alarming social issue in which women are commonly regarded as the weaker ones; the ones forced to obey the reigns of men. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>One of the most obvious and degrading female stereotypes as of date is that women are known to be mere ‘<i>breeding machines’</i> to some members of the public. As bearers of children of the future, a woman’s role is often connected with the sole purpose of dedicating her life for reproduction; nothing more, nothing less. Not only does this mindset violate the rights of women but it also fallaciously educates future generations that women should be regarded as only tools meant for the continuation of the human race. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Besides that, women are also notably shrouded with an everlasting stigma which states that it is an obligatory practice for them to be the ones who should raise their children instead of their male counterparts. This is because women are allegedly supposed to be the ‘submissive’ ones in a matrimony and in most cases, the wife is forced to abide her husband’s every command; rendering her voice null and meaningless. Similar to men, women should have the opportunity to pursue their careers as well; instead of being held down by the shackles of society that force them to be full-time mothers. In my opinion, the act of nurturing and caring for a child should be equally shared amongst both parents. The full responsibility should not be entrusted to the mother only; the father needs to have a fair share of moments with his child as well. </span></span></div>

<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Women, who spend time taking care of their children at home, are often linked with housework; thus, the stereotype, which connotes that women should cook, sew and have a set of home economic skills, was born. This idea of women having to learn these skills is most certainly an excellent one as it promotes the aspect of versatility in women but it also simultaneously lowers down the self-esteem of certain female individuals. For example, when a woman doesn’t know how to cook, she is ridiculed, frowned upon and mocked by society; all because she did not acquaint herself with the art of being a ‘true woman’. There are no such laws in any rule books of the world which proclaim that it is compulsory for a woman to study the art of cooking and sewing. Women are not just mere objects that can be personified and labelled by these chores; they have their own interests as well. </span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Moving on, another women’s stereotyped role in society is that women are not as strong as men and are mostly never the heroes in any situations. Often portrayed as the ‘damsel in distress’ in most works of fiction, women are always the ones in need of help and they are regarded as the more fragile ones; in which they are usually saved by the ‘powerful’ men. It has been scientifically proven that males have stronger builds than females but this fact should not stand in the way of a woman’s path. Women are as (if not, more) capable as (than) men are. The weakest woman can be stronger than the weakest man and the strongest woman can be stronger than the strongest man. Nothing is impossible.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>All in all, there is more to the female gender than it seems. These stereotypes that surround the entity of women should be abolished and no living organism should be typecast with such conventionalised characteristics. Everyone should have an opportunity to explore their own identity in order to discover themselves. </span></span></div>
